Heart Attack

Porn, gluttony, gossip, wasting time, idolatry, self absorption, and the like are wrong... We know that. No one needs to convince us of that. But, maybe realizing that those things are wrong is not the answer. Maybe there's something deeper we need to address.

You see, we could beat ourselves up for sinning and promise ourselves (and God) that we will do better but it just keeps haunting us. Yet, I think we are going about it all wrong, and I bet it's exactly what the enemy wants. He wants you to focus on the sin and it's wrongness but not the problem in the heart. The heart is the issue here. And he wants you to do everything possible to avoid that. That's where guilt kicks in full force and makes you loose track on Gods grace and makes you focus on your own strength.

Sin is a problem. But, what is causing us to continually run to that same sin? THAT'S what we need to ask ourselves and identify. In knowing that you'll be able to deal with it properly instead of dealing with it superficially.

Maybe it's pain you've been through and are avoiding to address. Maybe it's doubt you're afraid to confront. Maybe it's identity problems you're ashamed to admit...

The list can go on, but I think you get my drift. Dealing with sin is NOT easy and it can be scary to face those dark areas in our hearts. But, just know that God is there and wants to go through it with you. You won't overcome it on your own. And knowing that intellectually doesn't help, you have got to go there and face it.

Porn is not the main problem (it's just a tumor of the deeper problem which is cancerous), there's something else in the heart that is and you run to porn to fill that void. Jesus can only fill it. Whether it be porn or anything else you run to. Don't deal with sin superficially, go full attack against it. 

Ask God to reveal it to you and help you face it with His strength.
